A series of study was done to investigate effect of using condensed tannin (CT) on efficiency of protein utilization. In vitro study showed that among tannin-containing leaves, acacia and cassava leaves were most potential as protein protectors. However, the more acacia leaves were used the more reduction in gas production was observed. The use of cassava leaves has significantly improved performance of goats expressed by higher body weight gain (95 g/d) than when CT was inactive (47 g/d) (JIIPB 2008 Vol 18 No 1 : 51-62).Keywords: condensed tannin, goats, tannin-containing legumes.
