Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui mutu briket arang tempurung kelapa ditinjau dari kadar kanji. Penelitian dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap yaitu pengumpulan bahan baku, pengeringan bahan baku,  karbonisasi, penggerusan dan penyaringan, pencampuran bahan perekat, pencetakan dan pengempaan, pengeringan dan penentuan mutu briket. Kadar air yang diperoleh berkisar antara 3,46-5,57%, kadar abu berkisar antara 7,49-9,94%, sedangkan kadar zat yang hilang pada suhu 950ºC berkisar antara 2,86-4,77%. Kata kunci : briket, tempurung kelapa, karbonisasi, kadar kanji. ABSTRACT This study is an experimental research that aims to determine the quality of coconut shell charcoal briquettes observed by starch consentration. The  research carried out in several stages, namely collection of raw materials, dehydration of raw materials, carbonization, crushing and screening, mixing binder, molding and compressing, drying and briquettes quality determining. Moisture concentration obtained from 3,46-5,57%, ash concentration from 7,49-9.94%, and volatile matter concentration at 950ºC from 2,86-4,77%.
