Kajian fitokimia dan toksisitas ekstrak methanol daun pinang yaki(Areca vestiaria Giseke).Penelitian ini merupakan serangkaian upaya untuk meningkatkan potensi tumbuhan pinang yaki sebagaisumber obat tradisional. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan analisis fitokimia dan toksisitas ekstrak metanoldaun pinang yaki. Analisis fitokimia meliputi uji alkaloid, flavonoid, triterpenoid, steroid, tannin, dan saponin. Ujitoksiksitas dilakukan dengan metode BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test). Analisis toksisitas menggunakanmetode probit untuk mendapatkan Lethality Concentration 50 (LC50). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwaekstrak metanol pinang yaki mengandung senyawa terpenoid, steroid dan tannin. LC50 ekstrak metanol daunpinang yaki adalah 101,912 ppm.Kata kunci : fitokimia, toksisitas, Areca vestiaria Giseke, LC50Runtuwene M. R. J and J. Paendong. 2011. Phytochemistry and toxicity study of methanolic extract frompinang yaki (Areca vestiaria Giseke) leaves.The study is a series of efforts to increase the potential for pinang yaki as a source of traditional medicine. Thisresearch has been conducted on the phytochemical analysis and toxicity of methanol extracts of leaves pinangyaki. Phytochemical analysis of the test include alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, steroids, tannins, andsaponins. Toxicity test performed by the method of BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test). Toxicity using probitanalysis method to get Lethality Concentration 50 (LC50). The results showed that the methanol extract ofpinang yaki containning terpenoid, steroid and tannin compounds.
