This research problem was the students having low motivation in learning mathematics. The type of this research was the classroom action research. Classroom action research is different with the qualitative and quantitative research, but has both characteristics. Researcher designed plan and intervention of Cooperative Learning using type Student Team-Achivement Division. The participants in this study were 35 students from grade VII at Junior High School consisted of 21 male students and 14 female students. Collecting data used by several methods: (1) observation, (2) interviews, (3) field notes, and (4) the relevant documents. Data collected through several methods were used to perform triangulation as an effort to check the validity of the data. Based on these results can be concluded that Cooperative Learning using type of Student Team-Achievement Division is effective to be applied to increase student motivation.
