PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN WORD SQUARE TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR IPA DENGAN KOVARIABEL KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara kelompok siswa yang belajar mengikuti model pembelajaran word square dan kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan mengikuti model pembelajaran konvensional. (2) mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara kelompok siswa yang belajar mengikuti model pembelajaran word square dan kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan mengikuti model pembelajaran konvensional setelah kovariabel kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dikendalikan. (3) mengetahui seberapa besar kontribusi kovariabel kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar IPA. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan rancangan non-equivalent post test only control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V di Gugus III Kecamatan Buleleng tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang berjumlah 159 orang. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan yaitu siswa kelas V SD No. 3 Jinengdalem dan siswa kelas V SD No. 2 Jinengdalem. Dua instrumen pokok penelitian yaitu tes uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis dan tes hasil belajar IPA. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif, ANAVA satu jalur, ANAKOVA satu jalur, dan korelasi product moment. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut. Pertama, terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara kelompok siswa yang belajar mengikuti model pembelajaran word square dan kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan mengikuti model pembelajaran konvensional. Kedua, terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara kelompok siswa yang belajar mengikuti model pembelajaran word square dan kelompok siswa yang belajar dengan mengikuti model pembelajaran konvensional setelah kovariabel kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dikendalikan. Ketiga, kemampuan berpikir kritis memberikan kontribusi terhadap hasil belajar IPA sebesar 21% pada kelompok eksperimen dan 18% pada kelompok kontrol.Kata Kunci : kemampuan berpikir kritis, hasil belajar IPA dan word square This research aimed analyzing three problems : (1) to know the differences of the result of science between group of students that followed learning words square model and group of students that followed learning conventinal model. (3) to know how many contributions of covariable of critical thinking ability toward science result. This research was quasi experiment research with non-equivalent post tes only control group design. The populations of this research were all of five grade students gugus III Buleleng subdistrict in academic year 2013/2014 with the total 159 students. The sample of this research was used five grade students of SD No 3 Jinengdalem and five grade students of SD No 2 Jinengdalem. Two principal research instrumens are critical thinking ability test and result of science tes. The data was collected analyzed by using descriptive statistics analysis, Anava one way, Anacova one way, and product moment correlation. Based on the result of the data analysis, the following result were found. First, there was a difference result of science between group of students that followed learning words square model and group of students that followed learning conventinal model. Second, there was a difference of the result of science between group of students that followed learning words square model and group of students that followed learning conventinal model after covariable critical thinking ability controlled. Third, critical thinking ability gave contribution toward science result with total 21% on eksperiment group and 18% on control group.keyword : critical thinking ability, the result of science, and word square
