Adequate nutrition during infancy is fundamental for growth and development. The first and only nutrition for babies is breast milk, but by the age of six month, complimentary feeding is needed. A nutritionally adequate complimentary feeding for infant is very important for optimal growth and development. This study aims to evaluate the role of high protein complimentary feeding on growth status of infants age 6-8 months. A quasi-experimental study design was applied using cluster random allocation sampling technique. Infants age 6–8 months were divided to two groups receiving commercial complimentary feeding (MPASI-D) and to homebrews complimentary feeding (MPASI-I). All respondent were given infant feeding education before data collection and during the study. Infant’s growth indicators (weight, length and head circumference) were monitored. The study was done from November 2009 to April 2010, at several Posyandu in Kelurahan Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta. The result of this study showed that counseling and complimentary feeding for 3 months increase calories and protein intake and growth indicators in both groups. In conclusion, commercial high protein complimentary feeding is as good as the homebrews. Keywords: Complimentary feeding, growth, high protein, children age 6-8 month
