It was reported that diabetic mellitus condotion decreased the number of ß-cells and the level of antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD) of liver tissues Macaca fascicularis. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Momordica charantia powder on the profile both ß-cells dan SOD in the pancreatic tissues  of diabetic experimental rats. A total of 25 Sprague dawley rats were used in this study, they were divided into 5 groups; negative control group (K-), positive control or diabetic group (K+), and another three groups were were diabetic rat groups that treated with 5% (TBP5%), 10%(TBP10%) and 15%(TBP15%) of Momordica charantia powder. The result showed that Momordica charantia  powder significantly decreased the level of blood glucose and maintained the number of ß-cells of diabetic rats. Immunohistochemical technique showed that the profile of SOD in the pancreatic tissues of diabetic rats was improved after treated with Momordica charantia powder. The best results was shown in the diabetic rats that treated with 15% of Momordica charantia powder. The study suggested that Momordica charantia powder can be used as an alternative substitution materials in order to produce some functional foods for maintain blood glucose, ß-cells condition, and antioxidant level.
