Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) has been consumed by Papua community as their daily food and as traditional medicine. The people of Papua in rural community, especially for the people who lived near Jayawijaya mountain have muscular posture, strong stamina and resistant to diseases. They believe that this condition is due to the effect of red fruit. Red fruit contained carotenoid as its major active compound. Carotenoid is yellow, orange to red natural pigment which has ability as an antioxidant and provitamin A to inhibit many diseases.
