Purwoceng is one of commercial medicinal-functioned plant originated in Indonesia. The descend compound of saponin, alkaloid, and tannin contained in the root of purwoceng characterized as freshener and tonic. Nowadays, the population of purwoceng becomes rare due to the large exploitation. Based on the erosion levels, purwoceng is categorized as an almost-extinct species. To avoid the extinction, conservation through proper cultivation has to be done. The purpose of this research was obtaining the dosage of catt1e manure and kind of Arbuscular Mycorrhyzae (AM) on increasing the growth of purwoceng. The research was conducted in B2P2TO¬OT research garden located in village of Tlogodlingo, Sub district of Tawangmangu from july 2009 until January 2010. Design used in the research was Randomized Completely Design (RCD), consist of two factors of treatment with three replications. The first factor was dosage of cattle manure consisted of four levels, were 0, 10, 20, and 30 tons/ha. The second factor was kind of Arbuscular Mycorrhyzae (AM) consisted of three levels, were without mychorhyzae, Glomus sp. and kind of Schleroderma sp. The results showed that the treatment without cattle manure application gave the highest yield average in petiole length variable (18,53 cm), number of petiole (14,6), leaf area (8,71 cm/), root length (11,23 cm) and root volume (1,42 cm"). Arbuscular Mycorrhizae showed significantly different results only on the variable percentage of root infection with an average of 39,99 % of infection, whereas kind of ScIerodenna sp. not infect the root pUlWoceng. Agroclimate condition in Tawangmangu is suitable enough for conservation of purwoceng.
